- Complaint: request for name change
Dear readers of cacert-disputes, I would like to change the name of my cacert account. I registered as "Paul Wiegmans" on cacert.org . My ID documents list me as "Paulus Cornelis Maria Wiegmans". I already have 100 assurance point. I would like to become known as "Paulus Cornelis Maria Wiegmans" on my cacert account, because it matches the names listed in my identity documents. Thank you, with regards Paul Wiegmans
Dear arbitrator, This mail is in support of the dispute filed by Paul Wiegmans. I met Paul at the HAR2009 and have seen ID-card and Drivers license When I wanted to assure him I noticed the name in the CAcert database did not match the names in his ID-card. Then I have send him an Email to tell him he had to change his name or file an dispute to get his name chaned before I could give him the points. The name as I have seen it on his ID-card was: Paulus Cornelis Maria Wiegmans Hope this helps his request -- Pieter van Emmerik

Discovery
- The name that C1 claims is confirmed by at least two Assurers (C2 and András V., more requests are pending).
The name claimed to be in the ID docs is similar enough to the name recorded in the CAcert account so that it is plausible that Assurers did finish Assurances though according to current practices this is not covered.
The Assurances were done in August 2009. PracticeOnNames did already exists then, but probably still was not well known to Assurers not visiting one of the ATE during spring/summer 2009.
Ruling
Based on the presented information I have come to a ruling.
Since three Assurers have confirmed the claim and noone has objected I consider this as enough evidence to rule that the names in the claimant's account shall be changed according to the claim without loss of Asurance or Experience Points.
The name modification (Paul -> Paulus) is minor, so I rule that no revocation of existing certificates is necessary.
The Assurers which have assured C's account shall be informed that according to PracticeOnNames the names Paul and Paulus would not match.
I will reserve the option of filing disputes against Assurers which did not answer to the request for assistance.

- 2010-08-22 Support confirms modifications of the account
- 2010-09-01 A: Sent notice to Assurers, asking to confirm reception.
