USE is defined in [[http://www.cacert.org/policy/CAcertCommunityAgreement.php|our CAcert Community Agreement]] as:

     || "USE" means the act by your software to conduct its tasks, incorporating the certificates according to software procedures. ||

A certificate from CAcert may be USED by your software to ensure you can secure your communications, or identify an end-point, or similar.

In order to facilitate this, CAcert has made available a [[http://www.cacert.org/policy/RootDistributionLicense.php|Root Distribution License]] which grants the acceptor a right under some limitations to copy and distribute the root.  The root is useful for helping your software in its job.
