Today on Systems fair I had an assurance request from Willibald
(Friedrich Karl) Heyne, born *deleted*, Email-Address info@heyne.biz.

On the website the name reads "Willy Heyne".
According to his own statement he already has gotten 60 points.

He could not prove to me that he is Willy Heyne, so I hereby like to
file a dispute on false assurances in that case.

The arbitrator sent the following email on 2008/01/01 (Happy New Year!)

Hi there. I'm acting as the arbitrator for the CAcert case, which you can see at <http://wiki.cacert.org/wiki/Arbitrations/a20071023.1>. I would like to gather a little more information about it. Here is the text of the complaint (from Sebastian, respondent Willy):

Sebastian: I just want to verify that Willy was requesting assurance in the name of "Willy Heyne", and that is what you are complaining about?

Willy: the current rules of CAcert, state that the name you register under and the name on the ID should be the same... not similar, but the same. Unfortunately this is not made terribly clear on the web page where you initially register. However you can't log on and change your personal information to say "Willibald"; you would need to prove to us that you're all the same person, then I could request the administrators to change the name in the database to what it should have been. I would suggest if you have official correspondence (eg. bank statements or phone bills or ???) at the same address in each name, I would probably be convinced and we could rectify this situation. If you can't convince me I'll probably have to direct that your certificate be revoked.

Phillip:
a) When you assigned me this case, you didn't give me the original email that had the people's email addresses in it. Fortunately Willy's was in the dispute and I already knew Sebastian's... but I wanted to note that we need a procedure to pass this information along in future.
b) Someone (please tell me who if it isn't you) should change the initial account creation page to somehow make it more explicit that the full first name, as it appears on identity documents, should be used, and not any shortening/abbreviation. It's very hard to fix this later on, and it is of fundamental importance to the process.

thanks and regards,
Greg.

Subsequent to sending this email, the arbitrator noticed that the name associated with that email address is indeed "Willibald"; the problem has already been solved. Arbitrator heard back from Willy that it had been fixed. No further action is required, case closed.
