If you have 150 points on September, 1st 2009 you will lose 2 points every month by passing January, 1st 2010. On assurance you win a further month (e.g. max. 6 months). 1 assurance in November 2009 and the deadline will take place at February, 1st 2010, 3 assurances in January 2010 gives you 3 additional months.
